The renowned hotel Crowne Plaza Brussels City Centre Le Palace, near Place Rogier in Brussels, is the ideal location for holding a seminar, conference or meeting.

They choose vantage as a partner to automate the facilities in the conference room.

It has six rooms, some of which can be transformed into one large room thanks to the movable walls, plus a central reception area. The hotel turned to Vantage to provide the automation. The result is absolutely magnificent. The idea is for participants to feel good and be in the mood for a meeting. Clear mind, full of energy and physically fit. From the pleasantly fragranced environment with natural sounds, images and colours to the clever technology, everything on this meeting floor contributes to achieving this objective. This also includes a healthy, balanced lunch and opportunities to relax during the breaks.

Ultra intelligent audiovisual and conference technology

Crown Plaza's meeting rooms offer intelligent audiovisual and conference technology operated by Vantage, which means that as event organiser, you will have one thing less to worry about. Every room has a wireless Internet connection, wireless connection to the projector used to project the computer image onto the screen and a simple, easy-to-use touch screen for operating it all.

In each of the 6 rooms, Vantage has integrated the lights, which can all be dimmed, the air-conditioning, curtains, sound, projector, projection screen, and the image switcher (from laptop to the global source). For example, do you want to give a presentation via a laptop? Just pressing the 'wireless projector' button is enough to dim the lights, switch on the projector, switch the switcher to the wireless source, close the curtains and lower the projection screen. If the partition between the two rooms is open and they are being used as a single room, then the same button will operate this action in the two rooms..

Via a Designer Toolbox touchscreen, you can operate everything in each room, not just the main light scenario, such as 'meeting'™ or 'projection'™, but also with more detailed scenarios. You don't need the lights at the front during the presentation? Each circle of light can be dimmed individually, and you can also individually select every source on the projector as well as individually operate curtains or screen. Want to play a bit of music? You can make your selection from the different choices on the touchscreen-pop, rock, oldies, soft or a local source- and adjust the volume.

The Designer Toolbox software, which creates 2-way communication between the powerful Vantage system and the extremely flexible Macromedia Flash software, completely obliterates the notion that handy, attractive, fully customized user interface has to be expensive or difficult to program. Designer Toolbox makes it possible to create screens quickly and easily, based on the personal wishes of the end user. Designer Toolbox does present standard buttons and backgrounds, but the designer is also free to create images and can even integrate moving video pictures into the interface. For unlimited possibilities!

Every room also has a panel with 8 buttons that you use to control all basic operations: room on/off, lighting scenarios, projection, curtains.

For the best in comfort and energy savings, movement detectors and light sensors are also used. There is no one in the room for an hour? Then everything is simply shut off: the lights go out, the projector is shut off, the screen disappears and the curtains open up¦ Someone enters the room? Low-level lighting switches on, adapted to the amount of light already present in the room. As soon as a lighting scenario is selected, such as 'meeting' or 'projection', a programmed dimmed lighting level is switched on.

Taking a break

According to Crown Plaza 's meeting philisophy, the pause is just as important to the ultimate success of the meeting as the presentation itself. In the central reception area, you can relax and recharge your energy. Enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and healthy drinks, imaginative snacks, a balanced lunch, a game of chess or even a massage while relaxing in an ergonomic chair.

Vantage has been active here as well. Besides operating the lighting, music and projector in the room itself, you can also see if the conference rooms are in use and then switch them on or off as required. This function is mainly used when showing a demo film to interested visitors in the Crowne Plaza demo room.

And even more meeting facilities

There is even more for meetings in the Crowne Plaza. On the second floor, there are 3 new conference rooms for which Vantage has also provided the automation. Movement detectors have been installed, universal controls are operated in each room via two keypads and in one room, also via a touchscreen.

The Le Palace Ballroom on the ground floor has been open since August 2006. It is a large room that can be divided into two separate rooms. Big pillars obstruct a clear view of the presenter and the screen. Six extra screens and a camera were needed to solve this problem and guarantee an excellent view from everywhere in the room. Vantage has made sure that no matter where the presenter(s) is (are) located, the camera can be shifted to other positions virtually immediately by programming presets and via the touch panels, the cameras can be moved (left, right, up, down, zoom in/out) and the camera image can be projected on two screens at the side of the room.

Here Vantage controls all lighting, including a number of splendid, large dimmed chandeliers, the curtains, projectors and projection screens as well as the switches for the camera images and air-conditioning.

Finally, Vantage provided the automation of the conference room on the eighth floor, a straightforward room under the roof that can also be divided into two rooms. Here too, the lighting and four projectors can be operated according to the position of the movable wall.

In August this year, the entire project was further expanded with our Vantage SMS points. For this, an extra ask for assistance page was added to all TPT layouts. This page includes photos of all the room managers. So when someone using the meeting room complex has a question/problem about catering, office supplies, etc., then he/she just presses the photo of his/her contact person, who, no matter where that person is in the hotel, immediately receives an SMS with a message indicating in which room his or her assistance is needed.

In a nutshell: Vantage anticipates and reacts to all specific customer-oriented issues of its users.
